Frank was a long time first grade umpire, renowned for being difficult for bowlers to get a positive answer to an LBW appeal. A TROVE search reveals that Frank also was a football umpire and a strong Union man. This does not surprise to see that he was President of the Tasmanian Cricket Umpires Association in 1971/72.
According to Frank’s Grandson Stephen McQueeney, it was Frank who gave the famous decision at Queenborough Ground “NOT OUT, I was watching the yachts.”
Frank’s son Gordon also umpired in the late 1980s, and was a member of the Association Committee.
